MS Awareness Month

March is MS Awareness Month in Ohio. Ohio has more people with MS – known and unknown – than almost any other state in the country.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that is often difficult for people to understand. It’s a chronic disease of the central nervous system which interrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and the rest of the body.

We don’t know what causes multiple sclerosis and so far there is no cure.  MS affects everyone differently.  Common symptoms of MS are fatigue, numbness, blurred or double vision and walking problems.  However, thanks to on-going research around the world, there are improved treatments leading to enhanced quality of life for people living with MS.  The earlier the disease is diagnosed the better. My wife. Elaine, and I have fought the disease since her MS diagnosis in 1968.

We ask your help in raising awareness: Tell others that March is MS Awareness Month, Contact the National MS Society about volunteer opportunities, Register or sponsor someone for Walk MS or Bike MS and Contact Ohio Representatives and Senators asking them to maintain funding support for Medical Research at the National Institute of Health (NIH).

The National MS Society is a driving force of MS research. Research sponsored by the Society is focused on stopping the disease, restoring what’s been lost and ending MS forever. Its Buckeye Chapter provides information and help to MS families in Ohio. (www.MSohiobuckeye.org)

It only takes a few minutes to make a difference in the lives of the millions of people worldwide who live with this disease.  Please join us and do something about MS Now!

Thank you.
