Home from the Lou!

Stories from my road trip to St. Louis!

1,100 Miles and 3 days later...I survived the trip to St.Louis!

As promised, I have a full recap of the trip for all of my readers to enjoy!

Thursday Night (Cleveland, Ohio): My goal was to leave for St. Louis with 100 grand in my pocket, all from playing the penny slots at the Horse shoe Casino. I left the Casino with less than I did when I walked into it but that's fine, it was only $10 for the hour and half I was there. I basically paid for fun and it was cool to finally see the casino in person. After the Casino, it was time to hit the Cleveland bars and (hopefully) watch LeBron get eliminated. The more beer I drank, the more Boston was losing by. Let me put on record that I wasn't drinking because LeBron was winning, but sadly enough, I'm sure that many Clevelanders were.

Friday morning (Cleveland, Ohio): After the bars, we went to the location where our Megabus was going to pick us up. Our bus was scheduled for 1 am. The bus did not leave until 4 am. Yes, you have read that correctly, the bus was 3 hours late. I was beyond mad because we were supposed to arrive in Chicago at 6:15 am (Central Time) and catch our scheduled bus to St. Louis at 8:45 am. Long story short, we got into Chicago at 9:30 am and I was able to buy another ticket to St. Louis that left Chicago at 11:45 am. The thing that disappointed me about the Megabus was that it cost me an additional $45 ($21 per ticket plus tax) for the 11:45 bus ticket to St. Louis. Customer Service told me that I "should" be able to get my money back.

Friday Night (St. Louis, MO): Unfortunately, since we lost 3 hours due to the Megabus, we arrived in St. Louis at 5:45 pm instead of 2:15 pm like we had planned. From what I saw of it, the city reminded me a lot like Cleveland, but honestly, Cleveland is a cooler town!

Busch Stadium: Busch Stadium is an awesome place to catch a game! St. Louis fans were very kind to us and were great people. For some reason, it seemed like very old guy in the park was wearing the same thing, a red colored polo and a Cardinals hat. It was like they have an unofficial fan jersey in St. Louis.

The backdrop of the city in the outfield is beautiful, especially having the Gateway Arch as the centerpiece. My biggest issue was that from my seats in the upper deck in right field, you see the parking lot and the beat up grounds that old Busch Stadium laid on. To me, it was a huge eye sore but its whatever.

The food prices at Busch made food prices in Cleveland seem like a deal. It was over $6 for a Hot Dog (Hebrew Nationals) and beer was over $8.

The team shops in the park were very nice! They sell jersey t-shirts of players with their Twitter names on the back on them instead of their last names! I got a pretty good laugh out of that!

The game itself was pretty good! The Tribe had control of the game the whole time. I got to see former Wahoo, Jake Westbrook, pitch against us!

When the announcer said "Now batting, Pitcher, Josh Tomlin," I completely forgot about the National League rules and knew that he was an automatic out. Surprisingly, JT did get a base hit at like his third at bat!

Tribe ended up beating the Red Birds 6-2.

After the Game: We went to a few bars with a few family friends that I know from St. Louis. We had a few drinks and a few good laughs before we had to catch the bus to go back to Chicago. St. Louis bars are just like any Midwest bar, nothing too different.

Saturday (Chicago, IL): Long story short, we explored Chicago all day. We went to Navy pier, Millennium Park, and Wrigley Ville. We actually got to hear some of the Brad Paisley concert that was going on at Wrigley Field on Saturday Night. By the way, Chicago Deep Dish Pizza is the Real Deal Holy Field!

Closing Statement: The trip overall was beyond crazy but awesome! We got back into Cleveland on Sunday morning. I spent all of Sunday sleeping and watching the Tribe beat the Cards in the last game of the series.

The next time the Tribe will beat St. Louis in a series will be this October, but hopefully Chris Perez won’t be puking at the end of that game!
