Woman Assaults Officer Over Car Repossession and More Crime

Woman Assaults Officer over Car Repossession

Police arrested a 31-year-old Westlake woman for obstructing official business, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest at about 4 p.m. March 8.

The woman, who was convicted in 2011 and 2012 of drunken driving charges, had been sentenced to have her car immobilized at a Sperry Drive storage lot by the Rocky River Municipal Court. When a repossession agent arrived with an order to take back her 2008 Ford Edge, the woman became upset. Officers told her to calm down and let the car go, and she pushed a Westlake officer and tried to get into the car. A struggle ensued, and the woman took a swing at another Westlake officer with a padlock, hitting the officer in the hand.

According to information from the agent, the woman had not made a payment on her car in 4 years.

Police Arrest Three Clevelanders for Shoplifting at Crocker Park

Three Cleveland residents are facing charges in connection with a shoplifting incident at about 7:15 p.m. March 7 at .

Officers arrested a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl who will face receiving stolen property charges, and have obtained warrants for a 37-year-old woman who collapsed during the investigation.

Westlake emergency crews took the woman to Fairview General Hospital where she gave false information to police and hospital staff. Warrants have been issued for her for receiving stolen property, possession of criminal tools and misidentification.

Police found merchandise from several stores in the 37-year-old woman’s trunk. The value is being determined.

Shoplifter Drops ID During Fight with Crocker Park Security Guard

A security official suffered some cuts and scrapes to his arms and leg while trying to stop a shoplifter at about 2:15 p.m. March 6. The suspect tried to steal $264 worth of merchandise, and then fought with the security guard.

The suspect dropped his cellphone and backpack, which both contained identifying information. Police are in the process of getting warrants for robbery, receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tols for hiding the stolen merchandise in his backpack.

Prescription Medication Reported Stolen

A Center Ridge Road man reported that his prescription medicaiton had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle some time between 8 and 10 a.m. March 6. The car was parked in the man's driveway. Police have no suspects.
