Wires Down and Flooded Roads: Westlake’s Storm Damage by the Numbers
The power is still out for about 790 customers as of 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
The power is back on for the majority of Westlake, but it’s been a hectic week, to say the least.
As of 11:45 a.m., 790 customers were still without power, according to FirstEnergy. All power is expected to be restored in the city by Monday night.
Here’s a quick look at the storm by the numbers, as provided by the Westlake Police. The following numbers are for the number of calls the department received between 3 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 11 p.m. on Oct. 30.
- 52: Trees or limbs down
- 40: Wires down
- 15: Arcing wires or transformers
- 11: Poles down
- 3: Flooded roads
And how many calls did the police receive about when the power would be back in that time? There was no number listed, but it's safe to say there were a lot. Capt. Guy Turner wrote that "a conservative estimate would be as numerous as the stars in the sky."

The same people who called police to find out when power would be restored will be complaining about police response time when they need them for actual policing duties.
Get a clue people - the police have no say in power restoration, water line breakages, snow removal, et cetera. They are here for our protection from ne'er-do-wells --- period!
