Westlake vs. Bay is Browns Game of the Week
If Demons win, football program gets $4,000
If the Little Brown Jug wasn't incentive enough to win Friday's football game against Bay Village, Westlake High School now has more incentive.
Four thousand dollars is pretty good incentive.
Thanks to fans of both schools voting, Friday's game will be the Cleveland Browns Game of the Week.
Westlake vs. Bay beat out Walsh Jesuit vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary, Austintown-Fitch vs. Archbishop Hoban, and Firestone vs. Copley in the voting.
The winner of the game will get $4,000 for its football program. The winning coach and the game's most valuable player will be honored at a Browns home game this season.
The game will also get a written and video recap on the Browns' website, ClevelandBrowns.com, and will be mentioned on Cleveland Browns High School Football Show, presented by PNC Bank, which airs Saturdays at 4 p.m. on WTAM AM/1100.
Student tickets for the game are $3 in advance and are on sale at Westlake High. Student tickets at the gate are $6. General admission tickets are $6. No Southwest Conference passes will be accepted at the gate.
The Little Brown Jug dates back to sometime in the mid- to late 1950s, according to Westlake athletic director Tony Cipollone and Bay athletic director Matt Spellman.
