Westlake Students To Compete For State National Geographic Bee Title
Parkside and Lee Burneson students will try to qualify for March competition.
After winning the school-level National Geographic Bees, Patrick Lee and Justin Krantz are getting ready to take the written test to qualify for the state level in March.
In March, the school-level winners will compete to represent Ohio at the national contest in Washington, D.C., in May. The national winner earns a $25,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership to the National Geographic Society.
At Parkside Intermediate School, the top five finalists were Kate Fulton, Sanil Gosain, Patrick Lee, Matthew Vulku and Crystal Zhao. Patrick, a sixth grader, won the competition.
At Lee Burneson Middle School, top finishers were seventh-grader Justin Krantz and eighth-graders Thomas Bowles and Emma Franklin.
