Westlake’s Nordson Corporation Sales Increase 26 Percent
Company boasts record first-quarter results
Nordson Corporation, headquartered in Westlake, is enjoying a solid year, as evidenced by a record first-quarter results released Feb. 22, and common products used by you, probably helped drive that growth.
“That smart phone or tablet you’re using? Assembled with Nordson dispensing technolog,” Jim Jaye, Nordson’s Director of Communications and Investor Relations, said. “Open a box of cereal this morning? Closed with glue dispensed by Nordson equipment. Doing a load of laundry? Painted by Nordson spray equipment. Nordson really does touch people’s lives every day and Westlake continues to be a great base from which to grow our business worldwide.”
The public company, which moved to its Clemens Road location in 2010, manufactures and markets differentiated products and systems used for precision dispensing of adhesives, coatings, sealants, biomaterials, fluids and other materials, plastic extrusion and injection molding, electronics testing and inspecting and surface preparation.
Its current location is a sustainable endeavor with high-efficiency heating and cooling, environmentally friendly landscaping to reduce storm water runoff and a heat-reflecting roof. The building was LEED'S certified in 2011.
The company has seen significant succes. In August of 2012 it posted its then best-ever quarter.
“Our year is off to a solid start, as our global team delivered record first quarter results,” said Jim Jaye, Nordson’s Director of Communications and Investor Relations. “From our global headquarters in Westlake to nearly every country in the world, we continue to see great opportunities for Nordson’s precision dispensing equipment everywhere we look.”
On Feb. 22 the company Nordson announced first quarter results of fiscal year 2013. For the quarter ending Jan. 31, 2013, sales were $347 million, a 26 percent increase over the prior year’s first quarter sales. This sales improvement included an 8 percent increase in organic volume.
“Nordson’s global team delivered solid quarterly results, in line with our guidance and reflective of the normal seasonality of our business,” Nordson President and Chief Executive Officer Michael F. Hilton said in a press release. “Our continuing ability to provide precision technology solutions to customers in a diverse set of end markets generated strong organic volume growth, with additional growth coming from the first year effect of acquisitions."
