Westlake Ready to Celebrate Fourth of July

Celebrations planned for city, Crocker Park

Get ready for an star-spangled holiday in Westlake as there's loads to do on and before the Fourth of July.

The holiday events begin Sunday, July 1, as hosts the .

Festivities get underway at 4 p.m. with Bruce Springsteen tribute group Jersey Band.

There will be a patriotic ceremony at 7 p.m., where family members of serving military will get video messages from their loved one. Army Cpl. Joshua Sommers of Ashland, who was critically injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2010, will be honored.

The Cleveland Pops Orchestra will perform starting at 8:30 p.m., and the performance will be capped off with a fireworks show.

A classic car show gets underway at 10 a.m. at Clague Park. Following the parade, mayor Dennis Clough, members of city council and Westlake students will honor American in a ceremony.

Later in the day, the fun resumes as food vendors such as Ironwood Cafe, Bailey's Boardwalk Fries, Zog Dog Hot Dogs and Dip-N-Dots will be set up near the park for picnicing. 

DJ Eazy performs at 6 p.m. at the Clague Park gazebo.

Fireworks are at dusk. If there's rain, the fireworks will be held at dusk on July 5.
