Westlake Reaches Regional Baseball Final

Demons rally for win over St. Ignatius

Sorry, Jeff Short. Retirement's going to have to wait at least one more day.

The Westlake High School baseball coach, who is retiring at the end of the season, is going out in style as the Demons reached the OHSAA Division I regional baseball final with Thursday's 6-4 semifinal win over St. Ignatius.

Westlake trailed, 4-3, going into the seventh inning. But the Demons scored three in the top of the seventh to take the lead and held it.

Jamie Lackner went 2-for-2 for the Demons, with two RBI and two runs scored.

The Demons (23-6) play Ashland, which beat Oregon Clay, 5-2 in the other regional semifinal. Game time is 5 p.m. Friday at Nobby's Ballpark at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Admission is $6 per person.
