Westlake is extending the deadline for the 10th annual Westlake In Bloom competition to June 27.
Master Gardeners of Cuyahoga County will judge entries from all over the city from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 11-13 and select a first, second, third and honorable mention winner in each category, as long as there are five or more entries.
Anyone who enters gets an invitation to the awards ceremony Aug. 4 at LaCentre where the winners will be announced and recognized, along with the volunteers that made the competition possible.
Each property in Westlake can enter in one of the following categories: residential landscaping in small, medium or large, century home landscaping for homes 100 years or older, patio garden, garden with a water feature, shade garden, vegetable garden, window boxes, and apartment or condominium complex entrance.
But you don't have to have a home to enter. You can also enter in the following categories: assisted or independent living facility, business, church or hotel/motel.
If you show your completed entry form at Cahoon Nursery, Dean’s Greenhouse, Gale’s Westlake Garden Center or Plant Crafters, you can get a 10 percent discount on plant materials for your entry.
