Police Suspect Man Of Causing Fire In Girlfriend's Apartment

An apartment fire caused safety officials to evacuate 90 residents from a King James Parkway building early Tuesday morning. Police have arrested a building resident’s boyfriend, Mark Hudson, for aggravated arson on suspicion that he started the fire by leaving a lit cigarette in his girlfriend’s jacket pocket.

Flu Activity Increases In Ohio

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are reporting an increase in flu activity across the state. It might be time to get that flu shot. We’ve got a list of places to get vaccinated right here in Westlake.

Demons Win High School Wrestling Tournament

The Westlake Demon wrestling team took the Columbia Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, beating out Lakewood by a hair. The match had one of its toughest fields ever, but Westlake's Alex Busser (285 pounds) pinned Elyria Catholic’s Dave Smith to claim the third place championship. The win put Westlake two points ahead of Lakewood for a 138 to 136 win.

This week’s heavy snowfall has brought the salt trucks and snowplows out in force. The city’s service department offers some tips on how to help them keep the roads clear and keep everyone safe.
