Variety of Thefts Happen Around Westlake

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Someone tried to do some big-time theft from a Pebblebeach Oval couple's bank account recently.

The couple discoverd that $6,000 had been withdrawn from their account when a bogus check was cashed in Marietta, Georgia, on June 29.

Two attempted withdrawls by wire -- one for $10,000 and one for $20,000 -- were denied before the bank closed the account. The couple were reimbursed for the bad check.

Heartbreaking loss

Someone stole a Kentucky woman's engagement ring from her room at a Sperry Drive hotel sometime between 10 p.m. on July 22 and 4 p.m. on July 23.

The ring was valued at $1,100. Westlake police have no suspects yet.

Sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the passenger front window was smashed. A GPS, DVD player, $20 cash, and a phone charger were taken. Police are investigating, but have no suspects.
