The attempted theft of the 1994 Ford truck happened sometime between Aug. 24 and 27. The passenger window was smashed and the ignition was damaged.
The thief didn't get away empty-handed. Ten metal plates stored outside, valued at around $2,000, were stolen.
Westlake Police are investigating.
A Glenmore Drive boy's bike was stolen from his home the night of Aug. 28.
Fortunately, he didn't have too long to be sad about it. The bike was found in the yard of a Northglen Drive home nearby and returned.
