Teen Boys Try Twice to Fight Over a Girl, Fail

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two teenaged boys from Westlake got into a mess over a girl's affections and now law enforcement is involved.

Twice on the evening of August 24, two groups of young men -- from Westlake, Strongsville, North Olmsted, Cleveland and Hinckly -- tried to set up a fight between the two teens.

The first attempted fight happened around 8:48 p.m. on Royal Forest Court, but it was broken up by Westlake Police.

Since at first they didn't succeed, the guys tried, tried again around 10:23 p.m. on Bassett Road. Once again, it was broken up by police.

The city prosecutor is reviewing the report of fight night for possible menacing charges.

Guys, getting all in a knot over a girl is about the most stupid thing you can do. Girls, the same goes for you over a guy. The first thing that must be understood is that no one belongs to another--the realtionship must be mutually wanted. Guys and Girls--when that significant other in your life wants to part company, let that person go. Yes, it hurts to have a relationship break apart, but one-sided relationships do not last and they do not work. If you are the rejected party, you can and should set parameters if an opportunity arises to resume the relationship. Fighting and trashing someone's reputation in the process of a break-up don't have to happen, although some of you out there got a very good example from divorcing parents. Rise above it and take control of your own life and destiny--you should neither control someone, nor should you let yourself be controlled by someone else.

Thanks for that perspective, LAB! Anyone else have advice for teens -- both guys and girls -- dealing with a break-up?
