Ring in the New Year in Westlake

City offers several ways to greet 2011.

If you can't make it to Times Square for the big ball drop and don't want to spend New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark, there are plenty of ways to send out 2010 and welcome 2011 right in Westlake.

  • Kids can't stay up until midnight? They can still watch the ball drop at Crocker Park. The family-friendly festivities get underway at 6:15 p.m., with the ball drop at 7 p.m. to celebrate the new year arriving in Westlake's sister city of Tralee, Ireland. There will also be fireworks. Fox 8's Kenny Crumpton is host.
  • After you bring the kids home to the sitter, there's a New Year's celebration to commemorate Westlake's 200th anniversary at La Centre from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be a DJ, dancing and a casino with prizes. Tickets are $65 per person, of $500 for a table of eight. Call 440-250-2000 for reservations or more information.
  • If romance is on your agenda, take your sweetheart to Saucy Bistro. While there are no set seating times, the menu is limited. There's a champagne toast at midnight and party favors.
  • If you're looking for a more adventurous menu than the usual surf 'n turf, check out Viva Fernando. The Spanish restaurant is offering its full menu on New Year's Eve. Seatings are at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. A DJ starts spinning music at 9 p.m., and there's a champagne toast at midnight.
  • Talk about diversity. Westlake has its very own Irish-Mexican Cantina, Loco Leprechaun. And it's throwing a New Year's Eve party until 2 a.m. There's no cover charge and there will be a DJ, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.
  • Get the New Year's Eve blues -- in a good way -- at Savannah Bar & Grill. The New Year's party starts at 9 p.m. with a performance by Swamp Boogie Band. Party favors will be given out. There's a champagne toast at midnight, and breakfast will be served at 1 a.m. Tickets are $25 per person.
  • Dave & Buster's is offering an entertaining New Year's Eve with its annual Mystery Dinner Theatre and Casino Night. Doors open for cocktails at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m. The event -- which includes dinner, a DJ and dancing, casino games and a champagne toast at midnight -- runs to 2 a.m. There is a cash bar. Guests must be 18 or older. Tickets are $67 per person.
  • Looking for a casual, relaxing New Year's Eve with family and/or friends? Whistlestop Restaurant has seatings at 5 and 7:30 p.m., with a fixed-price menu for $27.50 that includes soup or salad, appetizer, entree and dessert.
  • Mahle's Restaurant & Lounge has a limited menu New Year's Eve, but the 15 to 20 items do include its prime rib and lobster tails. Reservations are open, with no specific seating time required.
  • If your little ones are getting a case of cabin fever, Barnes & Noble in Crocker Park is holding its Friday Morning Storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 31 with a reading of "The Night Before New Year's."
