As of 10:20 a.m., there are power lines and trees down across Westlake due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Here are a few of the main ones mentioned by the Westlake Police:
- Dover Center Road is closed from Westown Boulevard to Rose Road because of a downed wire
- Tree down at Concord Drive and Clague Road
- Wire down in the 23000 block of Hilliard Boulevard
- Tree down at Columbia and Westwood roads
The trees and wires interfering with side streets were too numerous to mention, police said. The sergeant who spoke with Patch encouraged drivers to be cautious and to remember to treat intersections where the traffic lights are out like four-way stops.
According to FirstEnergy, about 8,700 customers in Westlake were still out of power as of 10:25 a.m. That’s down from about 12,000 customers who lost power as of late Monday.
Westlake City Schools are closed today.
