Patriotic Music Starts Fourth of July Celebrations

Westlake High bands perform patriotic songs as well as other standards

The Fourth of July holiday got an early start Thursday night at as band members past and present got together for a concert of patriotic music.

Alumni from as far back as 1970 joined current students in the performance. There was also a recognition of veterans in the crowd.

In addition to patriotic classics like Stars and Stripes Forever and a medley of Irving Berlin songs, there were jazz and big-band standards from the World War II era that were a hit with many Greatest Generation members in the audience.
