William "Sonny" Tichenor, the dementia patient who walked away from a Westlake nursing home early Wednesday morning, has been found safe.
Westlake Police announced just after 10 p.m. Wednesday that Tichenor, 82, was found that evening in Canton by local police there. He had apparently taken a cab to Canton.
Tichenor was found to be in good health, said Westlake Police Captain Guy Turner. He was taken back to Life Care Center.
A Silver Alert was issued Wednesday morning for Tichenor after it was discovered he had left the nursing home sometime after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Tichenor had spoken in the past of going to Cleveland or New Orleans.
Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.

I am glad he was found and is safe. I think it is great that Westlake now has a system to communicate to it's residents via the Nixle account so we can all be kept up to date immediately regarding significant issues like a missing person or the storm last week. If anyone isn't registered yet, I am sure you can create an account for yourself through the city website. I think it is a great resource for our community.

The poor patients in these buildings. The owner of Life Care lives in a 48,000 square foot home in Cleveland, Tennessee sourrounded by high brick and mortar fences, private lakes, a million dollar barn and these folks have to live in these run down, delapated buildings. As we in Cleveland, say, Forrest Preston, the owner lives in the house that Medicare built!
