Michael Laub Named Avon Superintendent

Michael Laub is new superintendent, the Avon Board of Education announced Monday morning.

Laub's hiring will be officially approved May 2 at a special meeting of the before a 6 p.m. public reception for him in the media center at .

Laub, who has served on the building and infrastructure committee for Avon Local Schools' Continuous Improvement Plan Committee, will take over when current superintendent Jim Reitenbach leaves at the end of the school year. Reitenbach, who has been superintendent in Avon since 1999, in December.

Finding Leaders, the business hired by the school board to help with the hiring of a new superintendent, , staff, administrators and board members. Some of the requests that came out of those groups were that the new superintendent live in Avon and that he or she has district-level administrative experience.

Laub is a resident of Avon, and has worked in Westlake and Strongsville in the past as a teacher, principal and adminsitrator. Most recently, he has been director of human resources for the Westlake City Schools.
