Menchie's Frozen Yogurt Plans Store at Crocker Park

The self-serve fro-yo store offers lots of mix-ins and charges by weight.

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt is making plans to open a store at Crocker Park. Developers have submitted design plans, which the city Planning Commission has recommended for City Council approval.

The national chain is looking at a spot on Main Street, right between Jos. A. Bank and Michael Symon's newest B Spot restaurant. The storefront is currently occupied by Cold Stone Creamery.

The store offers more than 100 rotating flavors of frozen yogurt and more than 70 toppings, which also get switched out on a regular basis. Customers can mix flavors like cake batter and pomegranate tart with toppings like fresh fruit, nuts, candies, hot fudges and caramels.

One of their other unique trademarks is the free stickers and balloons they give out to kids at the store.

The chain, brought to the state by Stark Enterprises, developer and manager of Crocker Park, expects to open about 30 stores in Northeast Ohio over the next three years.

One store has already opened in Mayfield Heights. More are planned to open soon in Avon, Fairview Park, Lakewood and Fairlawn.

Cold Stone business model is a failure that cannot compete with other franchises, look for them to close down in large numbers this coming winter. Strangely, Cold Stone executives don't get the message and continue to skim "rebates" from the franchisees, offer no national advertising and flood the net with BOGO offers to increase their product "rebate" schemes.
