Westlake High School tennis star Lauren Golick captured the OHSAA Division I girls tennis singles title Saturday in Plain City.
The senior won the title after Cincinnati-Mount Notre Dame’s Sandy Neihaus was forced to retire because of injury in their championship match. The final score was 4-6, 7-5, 5-3 (retire).
This is Golick's first state title after reaching the consolation finals in 2010 and 2011. She is the first girls tennis player from Westlake to win a singles title.
It's been a great tennis year for Westlake, as Colton Buffington won the state boys singles title in the spring.
