Hilliard Elementary Staff Sends Support to Chardon

Staff members don't want their peers to feel forgotten.

Hilliard Elementary School staff members didn't want their peers at Chardon High School to be forgotten.

Following the tragic Feb. 27 shooting, Hilliard secretaries, custodians, food service workers, teachers and assistants all wrote a letter of support to their counterparts at Chardon High School.

Hilliard art teacher Will Wilson painted a black and red ribbon and a Chardon “C” on a box that the Hilliard Elementary PTA will mail to Chardon as part of a joint effort.

“We wanted to delay delivering these at the forefront because it is often harder later after the tragedy, when the support trails off, you feel forgotten,” said Hilliard Elementary Principal Kim Conley. “I am very proud of the Hilliard staff and the support of the PTA.”

The hand-written notes and cards will be delivered to Chardon High School staff members after Spring Break.
