Giant Eagle Recalls Bagged Lettuce, Salads

Produce may have been contaminated with Listeria

 

Giant Eagle is recalling several Farmer's Market lettuces and salads because of possible contamination.

The lettuce and salads may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause fever, muscle aches, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal distress.

Pregnant women are vulnerable to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery and other complications. Older people and those with compromised immune systems are at risk for complications such as septicemia and meningitis.

No illneses have been reported.

The recalled items have a "best by" date of between May 12-22. Giant Eagle is notifying customers who may have bought the products, but check your fridge. If you have a recalled product, either throw it out or return it to Giant Eagle for a refund.
