Most of the time, letting a friend drive when you've had too much to drink is a good idea.
When that friend has also been drinking is not one of those times.
A passing police officer found a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass on its side in a ditch alongside the westbound on-ramp to I-90 at the Crocker Road interchange around 12:49 a.m. on Sept. 2.
Fannie Thomas, 19, of Cleveland, said she was driving the car, which belongs to the father of the 27-year-old passenger, Prince Brown of Lorain.
Thomas was charged with DUI, underage drinking, driving after underage drinking, failure to control, and certain acts prohibited (for having another woman's driver's license on her). Westlake Police also discovered that she had an outstanding warrant from North Olmsted.
Brown, who was intoxicated, has four previous DUI convictions and a habitual alcoholic license suspension. He was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication and open container.
