Contractor Gives Self a Five-Finger Discount

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Lorain man hired as a contractor on a Bradley Road home under construction has been charged with stealing $14,000 worth of stuff from the home.

Michael Starkey, 48, has been charged with grand theft and breaking and entering.

Plumbing, electrical items, appliances, kitchen fixtures and other items were stolen from the home the night of Sept. 29. The owner told Westlake Police that he suspected Starkey.

Some of the stolen items were later recovered at Starkey's home.
