Chase Ends With Man Back in Jail
The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Out of prison less than three months, a 46-year-old homeless man is likely to be heading back after leading Westlake police on a chase in the early hours of July 4.
An officer tried to stop a 2011 Chevrolet 2500 truck for not dimming its high beams on Detroit Road near Columbia Road around 1:30 a.m. The driver fled, getting on I-90 east at Columbia Road, then getting off at the Detroit Road exit and getting on I-90 west.
He got on the Columbia Road exit, but then jumped out of the truck and ran. He was quickly caught.
The truck turned out to be stolen from North Olmsted on July 3. The man will be charged with felony fleeing, receiving stolen property (for the truck), receiving stolen property (for a book of blank checks he had on him), possessing criminal tools, driving under suspension, speeding, willful/wanton disregard for safety and failure to dim high beams.
