Larcenous Lovers, Unwelcome Couch Potato and More Crime
The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department.
Couple Arrested for Shoplifting, Proclaimed Love in Jail
Westlake police arrested a pair of lovers in a shoplifting incident at Giant Eagle the afternoon of March 23. Grocery store staff caught a 30-year-old Cleveland woman leaving without paying for $561 worth of baby formula and diapers at about 2 p.m.
Police also arrested a nearby 31-year-old homeless man who claimed he had just been enjoying an ice cream when he saw the woman, who was an old acquaintance.
At the City Jail, police found items with the female suspect on the man, and the two were calling out that they loved each other. The man was released on bond March 27. The woman, who also had an active warrant from the Parma Police Department, was still in jail April 2.
Man Found Asleep on Stranger's Couch
A Center Ridge Road resident found a stranger asleep on the couch, and chased him out of the trailer on the afternoon of March 24. When police found the 51-year-old Cleveland man, they also found a pipe and marijuana on him. The man, who has a 33-year history with the Westlake Police Department, was arrested for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and criminal trespassing.
April Fool's Credit Card Fraud
A Bellerive Court man got a nasty April Fool's surprise Sunday when he found $2,934 in charges on his debit card. The four purchases were made by Internet at firms in Arizona and New Jersey. The card and the transactions have been cancelled.
